So he decided to ride a 50cc Honda Ruckus scooter 4600 miles from Vail, Colorado to Anchorage, Alaska. Dan Keeley is on a mission to raise awareness for depression and bipolar disorder by running 1250 miles self-supported from Rome to London. It's called Rome to Home. In the summer of 2012 he experienced a full-blown manic episode – an episode which culminated with him believing he was ‘the chosen one’ and preaching from the central lane of a major motorway in Italy at rush hour. What followed was a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, time spent in psychiatric wards both in Italy and the UK, and the inevitable crippling depression which found him wanting to take my his own life. It has been 5 years now and Dan is doing awesome! He has a new lease on life and is using it to its fullest. He had an accident in 2013 that landed him in the hospital just long enough to contemplate how he was spending his time in life. This started Lyndon on his 2 1/2 year journey called Races to Places where he rides his modified KTM 690 Rally around the world entering it into local rally races. I caught up with Lyndon in El Paso, TX as he prepares to continue on the next leg of R2P down into South America to compete in the 2017 Dakar Rally in January.
