Born and raised in Seattle, Amber Casali considers herself a stereotypical Pacific Northwesterner, someone who loves the outdoors and relishes the natural beauty of our region. She has summited Mount Adams, Mount Baker, and Mount Rainier; section hiked most of Washington’s PCT, including six days solo in Glacier Peak Wilderness; successfully taken the Washington Alpine Club’s Basic Climbing and Mountaineering course; and she has recently become certified in Wilderness First Aid, through NOLS. Dan Keeley is on a mission to raise awareness for depression and bipolar disorder by running 1250 miles self-supported from Rome to London. It's called Rome to Home. In the summer of 2012 he experienced a full-blown manic episode – an episode which culminated with him believing he was ‘the chosen one’ and preaching from the central lane of a major motorway in Italy at rush hour. What followed was a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, time spent in psychiatric wards both in Italy and the UK, and the inevitable crippling depression which found him wanting to take my his own life. It has been 5 years now and Dan is doing awesome! He has a new lease on life and is using it to its fullest. He had an accident in 2013 that landed him in the hospital just long enough to contemplate how he was spending his time in life. This started Lyndon on his 2 1/2 year journey called Races to Places where he rides his modified KTM 690 Rally around the world entering it into local rally races. I caught up with Lyndon in El Paso, TX as he prepares to continue on the next leg of R2P down into South America to compete in the 2017 Dakar Rally in January.
